The BCH12-W2 clamps onto existing overhead support wire or rod, anywhere from #12 wire up through 1/4 inch plain or threaded rod. That means you can hang low voltage cable off the same threaded rod or hanger wire already supporting a ceiling grid or conduit run, without drilling new anchors.
2) Will a pre-galvanized steel J-hook hold up in a parking garage or damp area?
The BCH12-W2 is steel with a pre-galvanized finish. Pre-galvanized is meant for dry indoor use, ceiling plenums, telecom rooms, above corridors. For continuously damp, washdown, or exterior exposure, specify a hot dip galvanized or stainless support instead.
3) Do I need a beam clamp or anchor to install the BCH12-W2?
No separate anchor is required. This is a cable-to-wire-and-rod fastener, it clamps directly to hanger wire or rod that is already in place. Where there is no existing wire or rod to grab, you will need a hook with a beam clamp, bat wing, or threaded rod attachment instead.
