B-Line Eaton series enclosure climate control, 4X, ANSI 61 gray painted, Steel, Secure mount, 115 V, Climate control products, Guardian series filter

The BLKNP40FLV Guardian series filter fan assembly is rated NEMA 4X, so it holds the enclosure's protection against hose-directed water and corrosive environments. That is the rating you need for washdown areas, food and beverage plants, and outdoor or coastal cabinets. It is also UL/CUL listed.

Plan for a unit measuring 10 x 6.12 x 5.01 inches (height, length/depth, width) and about 10 lb of weight hanging on the enclosure wall. Lay that out against your internal component clearance before you cut, since the depth dimension eats into the panel space behind it.

It runs on 115 V, so a standard single-phase control circuit feeds it directly with no step-down transformer. If your panel is fed 230 V only, this is the wrong unit for the job.

It is catalogued by Eaton as a fiberglass accessory, so it is intended for fiberglass enclosures as well as steel, using the secure mount arrangement. The NEMA 4X rating is what keeps a fiberglass 4X box at its rating once the fan is installed.

A filter fan assembly pushes air in; to get actual airflow through the cabinet you need a matching filtered exhaust vent or a second assembly mounted low on the opposite side. Order the companion NEMA 4X Guardian series exhaust filter so the enclosure keeps its 4X rating on both openings.

A filter fan such as the BLKNP40FLV only works when the ambient air outside the cabinet is cooler than the target temperature inside, because it exchanges plant air through a filter. In hot, oily, or dust-heavy environments, or where you must hold the interior below ambient, you need a sealed enclosure air conditioner or a heat exchanger instead. This NEMA 4X unit is the right choice for washdown or outdoor cabinets where the outside air is clean enough and cool enough to do the work.

The housing is ANSI 61 gray painted, which is the standard industrial gray used on B-Line steel enclosures, so it blends with a fleet of cabinets already in that color rather than standing out as a white or unpainted accessory.

Steel, painted ANSI 61 gray. A steel housing takes impact and mounting torque better than a molded plastic shroud, which matters on plant floors and in high-traffic mechanical rooms.
