B-LINE FTB06CSSS6 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line Flextray FTB06CSSS6 shelf bracket support a 6 inch wide wire basket tray?
Yes. The FTB06CSSS6 bracket is sized for 6 inch wide Flextray wire basket tray, and carries a 6 in product width to match that tray size. Its other dimensions are 7.16 in length/depth and 2.66 in height, so allow that much projection off the wall or strut face when you lay out the run.
2) Is this Flextray bracket suitable for a washdown, coastal or chemical environment?
The FTB06CSSS6 is steel with a type 316 stainless finish, which is the grade specified for corrosive duty: food and beverage washdown, coastal and marine exposure, water treatment, and chemical process areas. For dry indoor commercial runs a plain pre-galvanized bracket is normally all that is required, so the 316 version is worth the spend only where corrosion is the actual problem.
3) Is the Eaton B-Line Flextray bracket UL Classified and CSA compliant?
It is UL Classified and CSA compliant. That matters on institutional, healthcare and government jobs where the cable tray support system has to be listed to pass inspection alongside the tray itself.
4) What is the difference between a Flextray shelf bracket and a trapeze hanger?
A shelf bracket like the FTB06CSSS6 cantilevers the basket tray off a wall or a vertical strut channel, supporting it from one side only. A trapeze hanger suspends the tray from the structure above on threaded rod with a cross channel. Use the shelf bracket when you are running tray along a wall or a column line and want the underside clear; use a trapeze when the run is out in open ceiling space with nothing to bracket to.
5) Do I have to order the 6 inch Flextray brackets in a particular finish to match my tray?
The bracket comes one way, model FTB06CSSS6 in type 316 stainless finish over steel. If your tray run is 316 stainless, match the bracket to it. Mixing a plain galvanized bracket into a 316 run in a wet or chemical area gives you a corrosion point at every support, which is where the run fails first.
