The Y termination splits the single wire into two legs of 18 inches each, so one drop wire supports two pickup points. That is how you hang a linear fixture, a strut run, or a tray section level off a single overhead anchor point instead of running two separate drops.

Use the Y when the load needs two pickup points off one anchor: troffers and linear luminaires, short strut sections, small cable tray runs. A single straight drop is the simpler choice when the fixture has one center hanging point or when you are running two independent drops anyway. The Y also helps stabilize a fixture against swing because the two 18 inch legs spread the connection.

Each of the two legs is terminated with a hook, so it drops straight onto an eye, a loop, a fixture hanger bracket, or a punched hole in a strut or tray without any additional fastener on the fixture side. Anchoring at the structure end is a separate item you supply to suit the deck, joist, or beam you are attaching to.

Yes. The 240 inch wire is the maximum drop, not a fixed length. The locking wire rope system lets you set the hang height anywhere shorter and deal with the tail.
