B-LINE BKYH18-094-40 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Y Hook termination on the B-Line KwikWire BKYH18-094-40 hanger do?
It splits the single suspension wire into two legs that end in hooks, so one drop point can carry a load at two attachment points. Each leg is 18 inches, and the total wire length is 40 inches, meaning you get roughly a 40 inch run from the anchor down to where the Y begins spreading to the two hooks. Common use is picking up both ends of a light fixture, cable tray section, or duct hanger from a single ceiling anchor.
2) Is the B-Line KwikWire Y Hook hanger listed for electrical work?
It is cULus Listed, so it carries both US and Canadian listing marks. That is the mark inspectors look for on suspension hardware supporting electrical fixtures and raceway.
3) Can I shorten the wire on site or do I have to order the exact drop length?
KwikWire is a field-adjustable system: the wire feeds through the gripper and locks at whatever length you set, so the 40 inch wire on the BKYH18-094-40 is a maximum drop you pull up to suit the ceiling height. You do not need the drop to match a catalogue number exactly, but you do need the ordered length to be longer than your finished drop.
4) What is the ordering part number for the 40 inch, 18 inch leg B-Line Y Hook hanger?
Order it as Eaton B-Line BKYH18-094-40. Reading the number: YH is the Y Hook termination, 18 is the leg length in inches, 094 is the 3/32 (.09375) inch wire diameter, and 40 is the wire length in inches. Ship weight is listed at 2.992 lb per assembly.
5) Will the hooks on this KwikWire assembly attach to a fixture without extra hardware?
The two hook ends are made to drop straight into an existing hole, loop, or bracket on the load, so no additional connector is needed at the fixture. What the assembly does not include is the overhead anchor. You still have to supply the structural attachment at the ceiling to suit your deck, beam, or bar joist.
