B-LINE SB592419X2NB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the Eaton B-Line SB592419X2NB bumper rail extension, and what does it do on an open frame rack?
The SB592419X2NB is a steel bumper rail extension for Eaton B-Line series open frame relay racks. It bolts on as an accessory rail, not a rack itself, and it ships in Network Blue to match B-Line network bay racks. Formed from 14 gauge steel, it measures 19.88 in wide, 2 in deep and 1 in high, and weighs 4.7 lb.
2) Will a 19.88 inch wide bumper rail extension fit a standard 19 inch equipment rack?
Yes. The 19.88 in overall width is the flange-to-flange dimension of a standard 19 in EIA rack-mount part, so it spans the mounting rails of a B-Line open frame network bay the same way a 19 in panel does. The usable opening is still 19 in.
3) Does the B-Line bumper rail extension come with mounting hardware, or do I need to order bolts separately?
Hardware is in the box: (4) #12-24 bolts and nuts ship with the rail. #12-24 is the thread B-Line open frame racks are tapped for, so nothing else is needed to hang it. If you are mounting other gear at the same time, budget separate #12-24 hardware for that, since only the four pieces for this rail are included.
4) Is this rack accessory UL Listed for a data room or a government facility build?
The SB592419X2NB bumper rail extension is UL Listed, which is the line item most institutional and government specs want to see on rack hardware going into a communications room.
5) Will the Network Blue finish match the B-Line racks already in my telecom closet?
It is finished in Network Blue, B-Line's color for their network bay open frame racks, so it matches an existing B-Line network bay run. If your racks are black or grey B-Line frames, the rail will still bolt up and function but will not match visually.
6) Is 14 gauge steel heavy enough for a bumper rail that takes cable and equipment contact?
14 gauge steel is the same material thickness B-Line uses on the open frame rack itself, and the part is a formed 2 in deep by 1 in high section weighing 4.7 lb. That makes it a structural bumper, not a sheet trim piece, so it holds up to cable bundles and gear being slid past it.
