B-LINE SB5772310AL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How many rack units does the B-Line SB5772310AL blank panel cover?
It covers 10 mounting spaces, which is 10 rack units of open space. The panel measures 17.44 inches on its tall dimension, consistent with a 10U blank. If you have a smaller gap to close, you need a shorter filler, not this one.
2) Is this B-Line blank panel steel or aluminum, and how heavy is it to handle?
Aluminum, in a brushed aluminum finish, weighing 7.19 lb. For a 10U panel that is light enough for one person to hold in place while starting the screws, and aluminum avoids the rust issue you get with painted steel blanks in humid or coastal equipment rooms.
3) What screws do I need to mount this B-Line filler panel, and are they included?
The panel is made for #12-24 mounting hardware, the thread used on B-Line open frame rack rails. Order the #12-24 rack screws separately if you do not already have a stock of them on the truck; the panel itself is just the blank.
4) Does this filler panel carry any UL or other listing for my facility spec?
No certification applies to the SB5772310AL blank panel. It is a passive aluminum cover with no electrical function, so it is not a listed component. If your spec calls for rated or fire-stopping blanks, this is not that item.
5) Why put a blank filler panel in an open relay rack at all?
A blank closes off unused mounting spaces so gear cannot be pushed into the gap, cables stay on the managed side, and the front of the rack reads as a finished install. This B-Line blank covers 10 spaces at once, which is the fast way to close a large empty section rather than stacking 1U and 2U pieces.
6) How thick is the B-Line SB5772310AL panel, and will it sit flush with other front-mounted equipment?
The panel stock measures .09 inches thick, so it mounts nearly flat against the rack rail face and sits flush with standard front-mounted panels and equipment ears. It is a flat blank, not a vented or recessed panel.
