B-LINE SB5772307FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How many rack units does this Eaton B-Line blank panel cover?
Seven mounting spaces, which is 7U of rail. The panel's stated height is 12.19 inches, consistent with seven 1-3/4 inch rack spaces. If you have a smaller gap to close, order a panel sized to that opening rather than cutting this one.
2) What mounting screws does this B-Line filler panel use?
The panel is punched for #12-24 mounting hardware, the thread B-Line uses on its tapped-rail open frame racks. If your rack rails are 10-32 tapped or square-hole with cage nuts, the #12-24 hole pattern will not thread correctly and you need the matching hardware version.
3) Will the finish match the rest of my black B-Line open frame rack?
The panel is finished in flat black powder coat, the same finish B-Line uses on its flat black series open frame racks, so it blends with existing rails and accessories in that finish rather than standing out as a gloss or gray piece.
4) What exact part number should I order for a 7-space 23 inch black blank panel?
Eaton B-Line part number SB5772307FB: aluminum, flat black powder coat, 23 inch rack width, 7 mounting spaces, #12-24 hardware. That single MPN covers the configuration, so there are no finish or size options to specify separately.
5) Is this panel steel or aluminum, and how heavy is it?
Aluminum, weighing 4.96 lb for the 7-space size. That makes it light enough to hold in place one-handed while you start the screws, which matters when you are filling a gap high on a two-post frame.
6) What is a blank filler panel actually for in a data or telecom rack?
It closes unused rack space. On an open two-post frame it keeps hands and cables out of empty rail space, gives a finished appearance, and provides a flat surface for labeling. This one is a blank panel only, so there are no vents, cutouts, or cable openings in it.
7) How thick is this filler panel, and is it flush enough to mount gear right above it?
Panel stock is .09 in thick, so it sits nearly flush to the rail face and will not interfere with equipment flanges mounted in the spaces directly above or below it.
