B-LINE SB741S19AAL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the B-Line SB741S19AAL shelf fit a standard 19 inch open frame rack?
Yes. The Eaton B-Line SB741S19AAL is a rack mounted CPU/monitor shelf built for 19 inch open frame racks, and it measures 17.31 inches wide, so the shelf body sits between the rack rails with the mounting flanges spanning the 19 inch rail centers.
2) How deep is the B-Line CPU monitor rack shelf, and will it clear a shallow two post rack?
Depth is 15 inches. On a two post open frame rack that means about 15 inches of usable platform projecting from the rails, so check you have that much clear space in front of or behind the rack before you set the monitor and CPU on it. Height of the assembly is 5.18 inches.
3) Does this B-Line shelf include a keyboard tray, or do I have to buy that separately?
The keyboard extension is part of the shelf. Model SB741S19AAL is the solid shelf version with an integral keyboard extension, so one part number gives you the monitor/CPU platform and the keyboard surface. No separate tray to order.
4) Is this a solid shelf or a vented one?
Solid. The SB741S19AAL uses a solid aluminum platform rather than a vented or perforated one, so if you need airflow up through the shelf for a hot running CPU, a vented shelf is the better choice. For a monitor plus keyboard work surface the solid deck is the one you want.
5) What is the exact Eaton part number for this brushed aluminum CPU shelf with keyboard extension?
Order it as SB741S19AAL, an Eaton B-Line series part. That single number covers the brushed aluminum solid shelf with the keyboard extension for 19 inch open frame racks.
6) What finish does the B-Line SB741S19AAL come in, and will it match black powder coat rack rails?
It is brushed aluminum, not black. Against a black powder coated open frame rack it will read as a bright silver shelf. If a uniform black look matters in the room, this is not the finish to specify.
7) How heavy is this rack shelf to handle and mount single handed?
5 pounds. Aluminum construction keeps it light enough for one person to hold in place while starting the rack screws, which matters on an open frame rack where there is nothing to rest it on during install.
8) Is aluminum the right shelf material for a data closet in a humid or coastal facility?
Aluminum holds up better than plain steel in damp environments because it does not rust, and the brushed finish on the SB741S19AAL is the bare metal rather than a coating that can chip and start corrosion. For MRO standardization in mechanical rooms or coastal sites that is a practical advantage over painted steel shelving.
