B-LINE SB741S23AFB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Eaton B-Line SB741S23AFB rack shelf and what does it hold?
It's a rack mounted CPU/monitor shelf with a keyboard extension, built as a solid shelf for Eaton B-Line series open frame racks. The monitor or CPU sits on the main solid shelf and the keyboard rides on the forward extension, so one rack space carries the whole operator station.
2) Will the B-Line SB741S23AFB shelf fit a standard 19 inch open frame rack?
The shelf measures 21.31 in wide, 15 in deep and 5.18 in high, so the mounting flanges span wider than the 19 inch panel opening the way rack mount equipment normally does. It is made for Eaton B-Line series open frame racks and mounts with #12-24 hardware, which is the thread B-Line uses on those rails.
3) Does this B-Line shelf come with mounting screws, and what thread are they?
#12-24 mounting hardware is specified with the shelf. If your rails are tapped 10-32 instead, this hardware won't thread in, so check the rail tapping on your frame before installing.
4) Is this shelf light enough to hang off a two-post open rack?
The shelf itself weighs 5.9 lb and is aluminum rather than steel, so the fixed load it adds is small. What matters on a two-post frame is the gear you put on it, since a 15 in deep shelf cantilevers forward off the front rails.
5) Is the aluminum shelf vented or solid?
Solid, not vented. That's a flat continuous surface, good for a monitor, keyboard tray use and general equipment, but if you are stacking a device that exhausts downward or needs bottom airflow, a vented shelf is the better choice.
6) What part number do I order for the B-Line CPU monitor shelf with keyboard extension?
Order Eaton B-Line SB741S23AFB. That's the aluminum, flat black powder coat version of the solid CPU/monitor shelf with keyboard extension.
7) Will the flat black finish on this B-Line shelf match my existing black rack?
Finish is flat black powder coat, matching the flat black open frame racks in the Eaton B-Line series. It is a non-gloss black, so it will not match a gloss or textured black enclosure exactly.
