B-LINE SB704233924AL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a 19 inch patch panel or switch mount in the B-Line SB704233924AL wall rack?
Yes. The SB704233924AL is a 19 inch panel mount open frame rack, so any standard 19 inch rack-mount panel, switch, or shelf bolts straight to the uprights. Panel holes are tapped #12-24, so use #12-24 rack screws rather than 10-32.
2) How much gear can a B-Line wall-mounted open rack hold?
Rated at 200 lb load capacity. That covers a typical run of patch panels, a switch or two and a small UPS shelf, but it is not a floor-rack substitute for a stack of heavy servers. The rack itself weighs 17.4 lb, so the anchors you pick only need to carry frame plus equipment.
3) How much wall space and clearance do I need for the B-Line SB704233924AL rack?
Plan on a footprint of 39.25 x 39.25 x 24 inches (height, width, depth as listed). The 24 inch depth is the number that usually catches people out in a closet or corridor, since the door swing and cable bend radius sit on top of it.
4) Is this B-Line rack aluminum or steel?
Both. The uprights are aluminum and the extension brackets that carry the load back to the wall are steel, finished in brushed aluminum. The aluminum uprights keep the frame light at 17.4 lb while the steel brackets take the wall-mount stress.
5) Should I use a wall-mounted open rack or an enclosed cabinet for a telecom closet?
An open frame rack like the SB704233924AL gives you access from all sides and passive airflow, which suits a locked IDF closet where the room itself is the security. Choose an enclosed wall cabinet instead when the gear sits in a public corridor, a classroom, or a tenant space where you need a lockable door and dust protection.
6) Do the mounting screws and wall anchors come with the B-Line SB704233924AL?
What you are buying is the rack: aluminum uprights plus the steel extension brackets that stand it off the wall. Wall fasteners have to suit the structure you are anchoring into (stud, plywood backer, concrete or block), so specify those with your lag or anchor supplier. Rack screws must be #12-24 to match the tapped panel holes.
7) What is the exact part number to order this brushed aluminum B-Line wall rack?
Order Eaton B-Line MPN SB704233924AL. That number is the brushed aluminum, #12-24 hole, 200 lb version, so quoting it avoids landing on a steel or 10-32 variant by mistake.
