B-LINE SB71019FB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line SB71019FB 66M block mounting bar fit a standard 19 inch relay rack?
Yes. The SB71019FB mounting bar is 19 inches wide, which is the standard EIA rack and open frame rail width, so it mounts across the uprights of a 19 inch relay or open frame rack. Depth is 18.31 inches and height is 1 inch.
2) What is a 66M block mounting bar used for on an open frame rack?
It is the horizontal steel bar that carries 66M-type punchdown blocks on an open frame telecom rack, so voice cross-connect blocks can be mounted in the rack rather than on a backboard. The bar itself is the mounting hardware only; the 66 blocks are ordered separately.
3) How much vertical rack space does the B-Line 66M mounting bar take up?
The bar is 1 inch high, so it consumes less than one full rack unit (1U is 1.75 inches) of vertical space on the rails. Plan your block spacing off the blocks themselves, not the bar.
4) Does the B-Line SB71019FB carry a UL listing or other certification for a spec job?
No certification applies to this part. It is a passive steel mounting bar for 66M blocks, not an electrical device, so there is no listing to cite on a submittal. Specify it by manufacturer part number SB71019FB.
5) Is the 18.31 inch dimension a problem in a shallow open rack or wall cabinet?
It can be. The bar measures 19 x 18.31 x 1 inches, so it needs clearance for that 18.31 inch run in addition to the 19 inch rail span. In a shallow wall-mount enclosure, check the usable interior depth before ordering.
6) Is the black finish on this B-Line rack accessory painted or plated, and will it match other black rack gear?
Flat black powder coat over steel. It is a matte, non-gloss black, so it matches other flat black powder coated B-Line open frame rack components rather than glossy or anodized black parts.
7) Is the SB71019FB mounting bar heavy enough to need two people or extra support?
No. At 1.3 lb it is a one-hand install, fastened to the rack rails with rack screws. The load it carries comes from the 66 blocks and cross-connect wire, not the bar.
