B-LINE SBSBO20FB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the B-Line small server boot rack UL Listed for a commercial telecom room?
Yes, the B-Line small server boot open frame rack is UL Listed, which is usually the box an institutional or government spec needs checked before hardware goes into a communications room.
2) What is the frame made of and how is it finished?
Steel construction with a flat black powder coat finish. Powder coat holds up better than paint against the cart and cable abrasion you get in an active MDF or IDF, and the black matches the rest of a typical rack lineup.
3) Open frame rack or an enclosed cabinet, which should I use for a small server closet?
An open frame rack like the SBSBO20FB gives you all-sides access to gear and cabling with nothing to obstruct airflow, and it is the cheaper, lighter way to mount equipment in a room that is already secured. At 29.4 pounds the frame itself is light enough for one person to set and anchor. If the equipment sits in a public or shared space where you need lockable doors and side panels to keep hands off it, or you need dust containment, buy an enclosed cabinet instead, not an open rack.
4) What is the exact part number to order this B-Line rack, and what does the "small server boot" style mean?
Order it by Eaton B-Line part number SBSBO20FB. "Small server boot" is B-Line's style designation for this short-stature, shallow-depth open frame, as distinct from the full-height open racks in the same series. If you are a distributor matching a customer's bill of material, SBSBO20FB is the identity to quote, at 36 inches high by 20 inches wide.
5) Will this B-Line rack fit under a counter or in a low closet?
At 36 inches tall it clears standard counter and desk heights, and the 11.86 inch depth means it does not project like a full-depth server rack. Measure your closet wall run for the 20 inch width plus working clearance on the sides, since an open frame is only useful if you can reach around it.
