B-LINE SB860810S078FB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much aisle space does this B-Line RCM vertical cable manager take up beside the rack?
Plan on a 10 inch wide footprint and 10.8125 inches of depth. That depth is shallower than most cabinet-style managers, so it suits an open two-post frame where cable is dressed on both faces rather than a deep enclosure. The 10 inch width is what you lose from the aisle on each side you install it.
2) Can I mount a vertical PDU on this B-Line cable manager?
Yes, it is built for direct PDU mounting, so a vertical rack PDU can be attached to the manager instead of eating rack units in the frame. That keeps the power strip in the vertical channel alongside the cable bundles.
3) Does this cable manager come with a door, or is it open fingers only?
It includes both. The RCM vertical cable manager has high density plastic fingers for cable retention plus an access door and gate, so the bundle can be closed off for a finished look and opened for later moves and adds. Cable capacity is managed behind that door.
4) Do I need extra hardware to attach the B-Line SB860810S078FB to the rack?
Push in fasteners are included along with the vertical cable section, so no separate fastener kit is needed for the manager itself. If you are mounting a PDU to it, the PDU's own brackets or screws still come from the PDU manufacturer.
5) Is this vertical cable manager UL listed for a data center install?
UL certification is stated for this B-Line unit, which is usually what a facility or institutional spec calls for on rack accessories. Confirm the specific listing category against your drawing if the spec cites a numbered standard.
6) Will the black finish match existing Eaton B-Line open racks in my room?
The frame is flat black powder coat with black plastic components, which is the same finish family used across the Eaton B-Line open frame rack line. Side by side with an existing black powder coat rack it reads as a match rather than a gloss or anodized contrast.
7) Is this cable manager light enough for one tech to hang, and is it aluminum or steel?
It is aluminum and weighs 19.6 pounds, so a single installer can lift and position a 72.625 inch section, though a second set of hands helps to line up the push in fasteners at full height. Aluminum also means no rust concern in a humid MDF or riser closet.
