B-LINE SB862812S078SL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the B-Line SB862812S078SL a rack itself or a cable manager that mounts to a rack?
It is a vertical cable manager, not a rack frame. The model is an RCM rack mounted vertical cable manager, double sided, built for routing lower density cabling between open frame racks. You still need the rack; this bolts on to manage the cable runs up the side of it.
2) Will this 72.625 inch cable manager fit a standard 7 foot open frame rack?
At 72.625 inches tall it matches the usable height of a full 7 foot open frame rack, which is about 84 inches overall with base. Depth is 7 inches and width is 12 inches, so allow a full 12 inches of aisle or adjacent-rack space on the side you mount it.
3) What does double sided mean on this B-Line vertical cable manager?
Double sided means cabling is managed on both the front and rear faces. The unit carries two vertical cabling sections, so front patch runs and rear equipment runs stay separated in the same 12 inch wide channel.
4) Does the B-Line SB862812S078SL come with mounting hardware?
Fifty push-in fasteners are included with the unit. Mounting is by direct PDU mounting method, so plan the PDU position on the rack rail before you set the manager.
5) Is this cable manager metal or plastic, and is it strong enough for a data closet install?
The body is aluminum with a silver powder coat finish; the gates and some fittings are plastic. Total weight is 11.2 lb, light enough for one person to hang on the rack. It is a low density plastic gate style, so it suits patch and equipment cabling in a light to moderate density closet rather than a heavily loaded main distribution frame.
6) Is the B-Line SB862812S078SL UL listed for a commercial or institutional installation?
UL is the certification carried on this Eaton B-Line vertical cable manager, which is typically what a facilities or institutional spec asks for on data center pathway hardware.
7) Will this silver cable manager match black racks already installed in my server room?
No. This unit is silver, a silver powder coat finish, so it will stand out beside black open frame racks. If appearance matters across a row, order the black finish version of the same RCM vertical manager instead.
8) What is the manufacturer part number to order this B-Line vertical cable manager?
Order by Eaton B-Line part number SB862812S078SL. That covers the 72.625 inch tall, 12 inch wide, 7 inch deep double sided unit in silver.
