B-LINE SB114504NYL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What bolt size does the B-Line SB114504NYL nylon sleeve kit fit?
It is sized for 5/16"-18 bolts. If your rack hardware is a different thread, say 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16, this sleeve will not seat correctly on the fastener.
2) What is the nylon headed sleeve kit for on an Eaton B-Line open frame rack?
It isolates the mounting bolt from the rack rail. The nylon body sleeves the 5/16"-18 bolt and the included washer sits under the head, so metal-to-metal contact between the fastener and the rack is broken. That matters when equipment mounted in an open two-post or four-post frame needs to be electrically isolated from the rack structure.
3) Does the B-Line nylon sleeve kit come with the washer, or do I order that separately?
The washer is part of the kit. Each SB114504NYL includes the nylon headed sleeve and its sleeve washer, so you are not sourcing a second line item to complete the isolation. The bolt itself is not part of the kit.
4) How thick is the nylon sleeve, and will it still let the bolt reach the rail?
Sleeve length is .356 inch, with a .06 inch wall and a .75 inch overall depth dimension. Subtract the .356 inch of sleeve plus the washer from your bolt length when you work out thread engagement into the rail or square-hole nut, otherwise you can run short.
5) I am buying isolating sleeves for a full rack build, how do I work out quantity?
It is a single-fastener kit, one sleeve and one washer per bolt, at .001 lb each. Count every 5/16"-18 mounting point you intend to isolate and order that many, plus spares, because the nylon heads are easy to lose or split on site.
6) Is the B-Line SB114504NYL sleeve metal or plastic, and how does it hold up in a rack?
Natural nylon, not metal. That is the point of the part, since a steel sleeve would defeat the isolation it is there to provide. Nylon also means you should hand-torque these rather than run them down with an impact driver, or you will crush the head.
