Two mount spaces. The shelf panel is 2 inches high, so plan on two rack units of usable space being consumed when you lay out the rest of the equipment on the frame.

The shelf measures 2 x 15 x 17.5 inches. The 15 inch dimension is the length/depth, so equipment with a footprint up to about 15 inches deep and 17.5 inches wide sits fully supported. Anything deeper will overhang.

It ships with #12-24 mounting hardware, which is the thread B-Line Eaton series open frame racks are tapped for. If your rack rails are 10-32 tapped instead, the supplied screws will not thread in and you will need 10-32 hardware.

A center mount shelf bolts to the rack rails so the load sits centered over the frame rather than cantilevered off the front. On a two-post open frame rack that balance matters, because a front-hung shelf puts all the weight on one side of the uprights. Use center mount for gear you want supported evenly on an open rack; use a front or flush mount when you need the equipment face aligned with the rail plane.

The shelf is finished in flat black powder coat, the same finish used across the Eaton B-Line series open frame racks, so it blends with black powder coated frames already installed. If your racks are in a different finish, the black shelf will not match.

Steel construction with a powder coat finish, and the shelf itself weighs 10.7 lb. That self weight counts against the rack's rated capacity, so subtract it before totaling your equipment load.
