Double sided means the shelf mounts to the front and rear rails of an open frame rack rather than cantilevering off the front rails only. Because it picks up support at both ends of its 20 inch depth, it needs a two-post open rack with front and rear mounting rails, or a rack deep enough to take both sets of brackets. If you only have front rails available, a cantilever shelf is the correct part instead.

It is a solid steel shelf, not vented. That gives you full surface support for a UPS, battery, or any equipment with feet or an uneven base, but it does not pass airflow through the deck, so plan your rack cooling around the equipment's own fans rather than through the shelf.

No. The #12-24 mounting hardware comes in the box with the shelf. If your rack rails are tapped 10-32 rather than 12-24, the included screws will not thread and you will need 10-32 hardware.

A 20 inch deep shelf supports equipment up to about that footprint. Full depth rack servers typically run 26 to 30 inches deep and will overhang the front or rear of this shelf, so it is not the right choice for them. It suits switches, patch panels' support gear, UPS units, media converters, and other short chassis.

Silver powder coat over steel. B-Line's silver powder coat is the same finish used across the Eaton B-Line open frame rack line, so it matches racks and accessories ordered in that finish. If your existing racks are black, the shelf will not match visually.
