B-LINE SB6041084TG – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a B-Line SB6041084TG open frame rack take standard 19 inch rack-mount equipment?
Yes. The Eaton B-Line SB6041084TG is a 19 inch wide rack, so standard 19 inch EIA rack-mount gear (patch panels, switches, UPS shelves) mounts to it. It stands 84 inches tall, the common full-height telecom frame size.
2) Is an open frame rack like this the right choice, or should I use an enclosed cabinet?
An open frame rack like the SB6041084TG gives you unrestricted access to cabling from all sides and free convection airflow, which is why it is the norm in dedicated, secured telecom and MDF rooms. It does not lock and it does not keep dust out. If the equipment sits in a shared space, a mixed-use area, or anywhere the public can reach it, a lockable enclosed cabinet is the better call.
3) What does open duct, open throat mean on this B-Line rack?
Open duct, open throat describes the frame geometry: the vertical channels are open so cable can be dressed straight into and through the uprights rather than being fished through closed sections. It is an unequal flange design, meaning the two flanges of the upright differ in width, which is what gives you the deeper mounting face on one side for equipment and the narrower one for cable management.
4) Will this rack match the Telco gray equipment racks already in my telecom room?
The finish is Telco gray powder coat, the standard color used across B-Line open frame racks and most telecom room hardware, so it will read as a match alongside existing Telco gray frames and ladder rack. Powder coat over steel, not a painted or plated finish.
5) What part number do I order for the 84 inch B-Line open rack in Telco gray?
Order Eaton B-Line SB6041084TG. That is the single orderable model: 19 inch wide, 84 inches tall, steel with Telco gray powder coat, unequal flange with open duct and open throat.
