B-LINE SB71823ETG – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Eaton B-Line SB71823ETG fanning strip fit a standard 19 inch open frame rack?
The SB71823ETG measures 23 inches wide, which is the full flange-to-flange width of an Eaton B-Line open frame relay rack rather than the 19 inch mounting opening. It mounts across the rack uprights on a 19 inch EIA rack, with the extra width covering the rail faces. Depth is 4 inches off the rail and it stands .75 inches tall, so it takes up almost no rack space above or below a patch panel.
2) What does a patch cord fanning strip actually do in a telecom rack?
It organizes and separates patch cords as they leave a patch panel, so cords route left and right in controlled bundles instead of piling in front of the ports. The B-Line SB71823ETG is a steel strip finished in Telco gray powder coat, intended to sit directly above or below the panel on an open frame rack. It manages cords only, it does not enclose them the way a finger duct with a cover would.
3) Is the SB71823ETG sold in a pack or individually?
Single pieces. Each order line of the SB71823ETG is one fanning strip, weighing .66 lb, so if you are outfitting several patch panels in a rack you need to order one per panel position.
4) How much rack height does the SB71823ETG consume?
Only .75 inches of vertical height, so it fits in the gap between stacked patch panels without giving up a full rack unit. Plan for 4 inches of projection forward of the mounting rails when checking clearance to a cabinet door or an adjacent rack aisle.
5) Will the gray finish match the other Eaton B-Line open racks already in my telecom room?
It is finished in Telco gray powder coat, the same standard finish used across the Eaton B-Line series open frame racks, so it blends with existing B-Line gray rack gear rather than standing out as a black accessory.
6) Is the B-Line SB71823ETG fanning strip steel or plastic?
Steel, powder coated in Telco gray. That matters in a data closet where plastic fingers can crack or sag under a heavy cord load; the strip is rigid and light at .66 lb.
