B-LINE SB86212KFB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the B-Line SB86212KFB, a full cable manager or just a part of one?
SB86212KFB is the RCM cable management plastic gate section only, the hinged gate piece that closes across the front of an RCM finger section on a B-Line Eaton series open frame rack. It is a component, not a complete vertical or horizontal manager, so you order it alongside the finger sections and mounting hardware rather than as a standalone manager.
2) How wide is the B-Line RCM gate section and will it match a 12 inch finger section?
The gate section measures 12 inches wide by 2 inches high with a 2 inch depth, so it pairs with a 12 inch wide RCM finger section. If your rack uses a different finger width, this gate will not line up.
3) Does the B-Line RCM plastic gate section use flame rated plastic for a data room?
Yes. The plastic components on these Eaton B-Line open frame rack cable managers, including the gate section, are UL 94V-0 rated material. That is the flame class facility and IT managers usually want called out for parts sitting inside a telecom or equipment room.
4) Do I need anything else besides the gate section to finish out RCM cable management on my rack?
A gate alone will not manage cable. The RCM system is built from finger sections, gate sections, and the mounting hardware that attaches them to the open frame rack. SB86212KFB covers the gate portion, so specify the matching 12 inch finger sections and mount hardware to complete the run.
5) Is the B-Line RCM gate section plastic or metal, and will it match a black powder coated rack?
The gate is molded plastic in black, finished to match the flat black powder coat used on the Eaton B-Line open frame racks. So a plastic part next to painted steel, but the color is specified to match the rack rather than approximate it.
6) Is SB86212KFB sold as one gate or as a multi-piece kit?
SB86212KFB is a single model with one configuration, the 12 inch RCM plastic gate section at .29 lb. If you are gating a full column of finger sections, order one per finger section rather than expecting a multi-pack.
7) How much does the SB86212KFB gate section weigh for a rack load calculation?
Just .29 lb per gate section. Even a fully ganged column of them adds almost nothing to the rack load, which is part of why the gates are molded plastic rather than steel.
