B-LINE SB2129SD09CW – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will a side drop-out fit my runway, or do I need an end drop-out instead?
This one is a side drop-out, so it mounts on the stringer and turns cable off the side of the run. If your cable leaves at the termination end of the runway instead, a side piece is the wrong part and you want an end or waterfall drop-out. Check where your bundle actually exits before ordering. At 7.75 in across, it suits a standard runway side rather than spanning the full runway width.
2) Is the B-Line SB2129SD09CW drop-out UL Listed for a data center or telecom room?
UL Listed, yes. That matters on cable runway work in telecom rooms and data centers where the inspector wants listed components on the pathway, not shop-fabricated transitions. It is an electrical pathway accessory, so it gets specified alongside the runway itself rather than on its own.
3) How heavy is the B-Line side drop-out kit, and can one person install it overhead?
It weighs 1.8 lb, so a single tech on a ladder can hold it in place and set the hardware without a second pair of hands. The 14 gauge steel is stiff enough that it holds shape while you line up the mounting.
4) Is ASTM A36 steel strong enough for a cable drop-out carrying a heavy copper bundle?
ASTM A36 is the standard structural carbon steel used for runway and ladder rack components, and at 14 gauge this drop-out is formed heavy enough for the loads a runway transition sees. The point of the part is that the radius, not a cut edge, takes the bearing load of the cable as it turns down.
