The B32-120HDG carries a hot-dipped galvanized finish over 12 gauge steel, which is the finish you want for exterior runs, parking structures, wash-down areas and damp mechanical rooms. Hot-dip coats the cut edges and the inside of the channel after forming, so it holds up better outdoors than a pre-galvanized (mill galvanized) strut. For dry interior work, a pre-galvanized B32 does the same structural job at lower cost.

B32-120HDG is the Eaton B-Line part number: B32 channel type, 120 inch length, HDG for hot-dipped galvanized. Spell out the full suffix when ordering, since the same B32 profile is sold in pre-galvanized and painted finishes and in shorter cut lengths under different suffixes.

The B32 channel is general purpose framing. It carries conduit and cable tray on the electrical side, and the same stick takes pipe clamps, HVAC trapeze hangers, equipment mounting and shelving. The 12 gauge steel body is the standard structural thickness for strut, and the slotted face means you can reposition nuts anywhere along the 120 inch run without drilling.

Yes. Hot-dip galvanizing coats the steel after the channel is formed, so a field cut exposes bare steel at the new end. On exterior or damp installations, brush on a cold galvanizing compound at every cut and at any drilled hole, or the cut end is where rust starts. Indoors and dry, it is less critical.
