B-Line Eaton series strut channel, 1.37" channel height, 240" channel length, 1.62" channel width, Steel, 12 Gauge, B32 channel type, Pre-galvanized

The B32 measures 1.62 inches across the channel face, which is the standard 1-5/8 inch strut width, so 1-5/8 inch strut nuts, clamps, straps and fittings seat in the slot. Height is 1.37 inches, a shallower back than full 1-5/8 x 1-5/8 strut, so it uses the same hardware but takes less depth behind the run.

Pre-galvanized (mill galvanized) steel is intended for dry indoor use, mechanical rooms, ceilings and interior electrical work. The zinc is applied to the coil before rolling, so the cut ends and punched edges are left bare. For exterior runs, parking structures, or damp and corrosive areas, specify hot-dip galvanized or stainless channel instead.

Both share the 1.62 inch face so they take identical fittings, but the B32 is the shallow profile at 1.37 inches deep rather than a full 1-5/8. Less depth means less load capacity and less span, so it suits conduit racks, light pipe support and trapeze work in tight ceiling space. For long unsupported spans or heavier mechanical loads, use the deeper channel or a back-to-back welded section.

It is 12 gauge steel, the standard structural thickness for strut and the same gauge used on typical trapeze and conduit support runs. Lighter 14 and 16 gauge channel exists for signage and light bracketry; 12 gauge is what most electrical support details call out.

Order by manufacturer part number B32-240GLV from Eaton B-Line. That code breaks down as the B32 profile, a 240 inch stick, and GLV for the pre-galvanized finish, so it matches an existing pre-galvanized B32 run exactly.
