B-LINE BFV409-09 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What are the dimensions of the B-Line BFV409-09 fiberglass strut bracket?
The BFV409-09 bracket measures 12 inches in height, 13 inches in length/depth, and 1.62 inches in width. That 1.62 inch width is the giveaway on fit: it matches the standard 1-5/8 inch strut channel profile, so the bracket sits on the face of a 1-5/8 inch fiberglass channel rather than overhanging it.
2) Is the B-Line BFV409-09 bracket metal or non-metallic?
It is non-metallic. The BFV409-09 is a fiberglass bracket built on vinyl ester resin, which is why it gets specified for wastewater plants, chemical rooms, coastal sites, and other corrosive areas where steel or even stainless strut fittings rust or pit. It also means no galvanic reaction against dissimilar metals and no need for field touch-up on cut or drilled surfaces.
3) Will a fiberglass strut bracket work with my existing metal Unistrut-style channel?
Mechanically, yes in most cases, because the bracket is dimensioned to the 1-5/8 inch strut profile at 1.62 inches wide. But mixing a fiberglass fitting onto steel channel defeats the reason to buy it. If the run is in a corrosive area, put the BFV409-09 on fiberglass channel from the same B-Line strut fiberglass system so the whole support is non-metallic. Note the fasteners too: steel bolts through a fiberglass bracket become the first thing to corrode.
4) Does the B-Line BFV409-09 bracket come with mounting hardware?
Plan on ordering fasteners separately. The BFV409-09 is sold as the bracket alone, and in a fiberglass strut system you generally want non-metallic or stainless channel nuts, bolts, and washers to match, since carbon steel hardware becomes the corrosion path through an otherwise non-metallic support.
5) What part number do I order for the B-Line 12 inch fiberglass strut bracket?
Order Eaton B-Line part BFV409-09. It is a single configuration, no finish or size options to specify, and it carries UPC 781011028350 for verification against a distributor pick list.
6) Is the BFV409-09 fiberglass bracket rated or listed for anything?
The BFV409-09 is supplied as a standard fiberglass strut fitting with no certification designation attached to the part. If your submittal needs a listing called out against the support hardware, that requirement has to be satisfied at the system level by your engineer of record rather than by this bracket's part marking.
