Where you need maximum load capacity in a dry indoor mechanical room, steel strut is still the usual choice.

The channel measures 1.62 inches wide, the standard 1-5/8 inch strut profile, so hardware sized to that profile matches the opening. On corrosive or non-conductive installs where fiberglass was chosen in the first place, pair it with fiberglass or stainless fittings and hardware rather than plain steel, otherwise the fasteners corrode before the channel does.
