The B279FLHDG post base is steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish, so it holds up in exterior, damp, and washdown locations where a plain or painted fitting would rust at the cut edges. Hot-dip coating covers the inside of holes and edges, which is why it is the usual pick for rooftop, yard, and parking-structure strut supports.

Flush to side means the strut post sits at the edge of the base plate rather than centered on it, so the face of the channel lines up with the side of the base. That lets you set a post tight against a wall, curb, or another piece of equipment. If you need the post centered on the plate with clearance all around, you want a centered post base instead, not the B279FLHDG.

It measures 8 inches by 3 inches by 1.62 inches and weighs 2.3 pounds. Those numbers matter when you are laying out anchor spacing on a curb or pad: lay the base on the surface first and confirm the 8 by 3 inch footprint clears adjacent equipment and edge distance before you drill.

The B279FLHDG is supplied as the galvanized steel base only. Concrete anchors, thru-bolts, or the hardware that fastens the strut channel to the base are separate items, so add them to the order based on your substrate (wedge anchors for cured concrete, through-bolts for steel deck).

Order Eaton B-Line B279FLHDG. The HDG suffix is the hot-dipped galvanized version of the B279 flush-to-side rectangular post base. If a submittal calls out a plain or electro-galvanized finish, that is a different suffix and not this part.

No rating is carried on this fitting. The B279FLHDG is a mechanical support component for strut framing, sold as galvanized steel hardware rather than a listed electrical device. If your spec requires a listed support assembly, that listing comes from the strut system or the equipment being supported, not from the base itself.
