B-Line B279FLSS6 Eaton series strut fittings and accessories, 1.62" Height, 8" Length, 3" Width, 2.30lbs, Steel, Rectangular post base, flush to side, Stainless steel type 316

The B279FLSS6 is a rectangular post base that anchors a strut channel post to a floor or slab, with the channel sitting flush to one side of the base rather than centered. The offset lets the post stand tight against a wall, curb, or adjacent equipment instead of standing off from it. It measures 8 inches in length, 3 inches in width, and 1.62 inches in height, and weighs 2.3 pounds.

It is a steel base furnished in stainless steel type 316. Type 316 is the marine and chemical grade of stainless, which is why it gets specified for coastal installations, wastewater plants, food and chemical process areas, and washdown zones where plain galvanized fittings pit out. If your run is indoor and dry, a plain or electro-galvanized base does the same mechanical job for less material cost.

Plan on an 8 by 3 inch rectangular footprint on the deck, with the base standing 1.62 inches tall. Lay the base out so the flush side falls where you want the post face, since the channel does not sit on the centerline of the 8 inch dimension.

The B279FLSS6 is supplied as the post base only. Concrete anchors, wedge anchors, or through bolts are ordered separately and sized to your slab and load. On a 316 stainless base in a corrosive environment, match the anchors in stainless as well, since mixing carbon steel anchors into a stainless assembly gives you a corrosion point right at the fastener.

Use the flush-to-side type, like the B279FLSS6, when the post has to sit hard against a wall, curb, or equipment pad and you cannot give up the offset a centered base creates. A centered base is the better choice on a free-standing rack or trapeze support, where the load is balanced over the anchors on both sides of the channel.

Order by manufacturer part number B279FLSS6, from the Eaton B-Line strut fittings and accessories line. The SS6 ending identifies the type 316 stainless version; the same base pattern is carried in other materials under different suffixes, so quote the full number to avoid getting a plain steel base.
