It is Type 304 stainless steel. That is the grade specified for outdoor, damp, and wash-down work where plain or electro-galvanized fittings rust out. For chloride exposure such as coastal or pool chemical rooms, 316 is the usual step up. Bolt it with stainless hardware too, since a plated bolt in a stainless fitting will corrode first and become the weak point.

The B261-18SS4 is the brace alone. You order the strut nuts, bolts, and washers separately, one set per hole at each end. In 304 stainless work, match the fasteners to the fitting rather than mixing in zinc plated hardware.

Order by the full part number B261-18SS4. The SS4 suffix is what identifies the Type 304 stainless version; the same B261 brace body is sold in other finishes, and a submittal that just says B261-18 does not pin down the material.
