1) Will a GFTCBH220 breaker protect a 240V circuit like a hot tub or well pump?
Yes. The B-Line Type GFCB model GFTCBH220 is a two-pole ground fault breaker rated 120/240V at 50 amps, so it covers a two-hot 240V load as well as 120/240V circuits. The 50 amp rating is fixed on this model, so the branch circuit conductors and the load have to be sized for 50 amps.
2) Is this a GFCI breaker or just a regular two-pole breaker?
It is a ground fault circuit breaker, not a standard thermal-magnetic one. It does both jobs in one device: overcurrent protection at 50 amps and ground fault sensing on the circuit. That means it needs the load neutral landed on the breaker and a pigtail to the panel neutral bar, unlike a plain two-pole breaker.
3) What wire size does the GFTCBH220 ground fault breaker terminate?
The lug accepts #14 through 4 AWG. For a 50 amp two-pole circuit you are realistically landing 8 or 6 AWG copper, both well inside that range, and the terminal will also take the smaller sizes if it is being used on a lighter feed.
