Baldwin BAL-5047.044.FD – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Do the Baldwin 5047 dummy roses include the knob or lever?
No. The 5047 rose dummy ships with two roses, the matching backplate, and the retainer or retainers needed to hold the rose on the door. Knobs and levers are ordered separately, so pick the Estate Series lever or knob you want and pair it with these roses.
2) What is the difference between ordering the 5047 rose as a Pair versus a Half Pair?
It comes down to whether you need hardware on both faces of the door. The Pair covers a full dummy set with a rose and handle on each side, typical for double doors or a closet pair where each leaf gets a pull on the room side. The Half Pair is for a half dummy, hardware on one face only, which is the usual choice for a fixed panel or a pantry door with a pull on the outside only. Both are offered in all 14 finishes.
3) Which finishes does the Baldwin 5047 rose dummy come in if I need it to match the rest of my door hardware?
Fourteen finishes: 003 Polished Brass PVD, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass PVD, 050 Satin Brass Black, 055 Polished Nickel PVD, 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass Brown, 076 Lifetime PVD Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112 Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. Every one is available as a Pair or Half Pair, and the numeric codes are the same Baldwin finish codes used across the Estate Series, so matching an existing set is a matter of quoting the code already on the other doors.
4) Is the Baldwin 5047 rose suitable for a commercial opening or an apartment turn job?
The 5047 is a residential product in Baldwin's Estate Series, so it belongs on interior and entry doors in homes, condos, and multi-family units rather than on a graded commercial opening. For a fixed or non-latching door in a commercial corridor, a property manager should be looking at graded commercial trim instead.
5) Can I use the 5047 rose to replace a working lockset on a door that no longer needs to latch?
Yes, that is a common use. Because the Full Dummy function is fixed and non-operating, swapping a dead or unwanted lockset for a 5047 dummy rose plus an Estate Series lever or knob gives you the same look on the face with nothing to fail. Order the Half Pair if only one face is visible.
6) Is the Baldwin 5047 a round rose or a plate?
Round. The 5047 is a circular rose, the small disc that sits under the knob or lever, not a rectangular backplate trim. If the doors you are matching have a long escutcheon plate, this will not visually line up.
