Baldwin 5127076 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Baldwin Estate 5127 privacy rosette come with knobs, levers, or a latch?
No. The 5127 rose ships with the rose or roses, the matching backplate, and the retainers needed to hold it to the door. Knobs or levers, the latch, and any adaptors are separate line items, so budget for those on the same order or the opening won't be complete.
2) What is the difference between the Pair and Half Pair options on the Baldwin 5127 rose?
Pair gives you two roses, one for each face of the door. Half Pair is a single rose for one side only, which is what you want for a half dummy application or when you are replacing one damaged rose and matching the other side. Both choices are offered in every finish the 5127 comes in.
3) What finishes does the Baldwin Estate 5127 rosette come in?
Fourteen: 003 Polished Brass PVD, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass PVD, 050 Satin Brass Black, 055 Polished Nickel PVD, 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass Brown, 076 Lifetime PVD Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112 Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. If you are matching existing Baldwin trim in a house, order by that two or three digit code rather than the finish name, since several of the brass tones read similarly in photos.
4) Is the Baldwin 5127 rose rated for commercial use in an office or apartment corridor?
It is a residential item in Baldwin's Estate Series. For interior doors in homes, model units, and hospitality guest rooms it is the right kind of trim; for a commercial corridor where a graded lockset is specified, look at commercial door trim instead.
5) Can I use the 5127 privacy rose to build a passage or dummy set instead?
The 5127 is offered in function-specific versions. This one is the privacy version, prepped for a privacy turn and release. Passage roses are used to build tubular passage or mortise sectional entry sets, and dummy roses build full or half dummy sets, so match the rose to the function you actually need on that door rather than trying to convert this one.
6) I have Baldwin knobs already on my bedroom doors and one rose is damaged. Can I just buy one 5127?
Yes, order the Half Pair in the finish code stamped on your existing hardware. You get a single engraved rose with its backplate and retainer, which is the usual fix when a rose is scratched or the finish has worn on the pull side only.
7) Will the 031 Non-Lacquered Brass 5127 rose stay bright like the polished brass version?
No, and that is the point of it. Non-lacquered brass has no clear coat, so it darkens and patinas with handling over time. If you want a brass tone that holds its appearance, choose 003 Polished Brass PVD or 044 Satin Brass PVD instead. Both are offered in Pair and Half Pair.
8) What does the Baldwin Estate 5127 rose look like?
It is an engraved round rose in a traditional, classic styling from Baldwin's Estate Series, meant to sit under a knob or lever as the escutcheon plate against the door face. It is trim only, not the locking mechanism.
