2) Why would I use a 90 degree ring terminal instead of a straight one?
The 90 degree bend in the K975U turns the ring tongue perpendicular to the barrel, so a heavy 2/0 to 3/0 conductor coming straight down a gutter or wireway can land flat on a horizontal bus pad or stud without bending the cable itself. On large copper that matters, a straight terminal would force a tight radius in the conductor to make the same landing. Use a straight tubular terminal where the pad is in line with the cable run.
3) Is the Sta-Kon K975U copper or aluminum, and can I put it on aluminum conductor?
The K975U barrel is copper, so it is intended for copper conductor. Aluminum feeders need a terminal listed for aluminum (or AL9CU dual rated) with the appropriate inhibitor compound; using a copper-only lug on aluminum risks a bad joint.
