Bemis 2155SSCT 000 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Bemis 2155SSCT fit my elongated toilet bowl and standard bolt holes?
The 2155SSCT is an elongated seat with a 5.5 inch bolt spread, which is the standard hole spacing on two-bolt fixtures, and it fits most manufacturers' elongated bowls. Seat dimensions are 18.563 inches long by 14.5 inches wide, 2.375 inches high. If your bowl is round front rather than elongated, this is the wrong shape.
2) Does the Bemis 2155SSCT come with a lid?
No lid. The 2155SSCT is an open front, less cover seat, which is the configuration most commercial and institutional restrooms specify. If you need a closed ring or a cover for a residential-style bathroom, this is not the model.
3) Why do commercial toilet seats keep coming loose, and does the STA-TITE system actually fix it?
Loose seats are usually a fastening problem, not a seat problem. The STA-TITE Commercial Fastening System on the 2155SSCT is built to not loosen in service, and Bemis states it cuts install time by about a third, which is what kills the repeat maintenance callbacks on a building with dozens of fixtures.
4) Will this seat stay up on its own for cleaning?
Yes. The check hinge is self-sustaining, so the seat holds in any open position instead of falling back onto the bowl. That is what janitorial crews want when they are washing down a fixture, and it is also a common ADA-adjacent spec preference in assisted-use stalls.
5) What is DuraGuard on the Bemis 2155SSCT and what does it actually do?
DuraGuard is an antimicrobial additive molded into the seat material to inhibit bacterial growth on the seat itself. Bemis is explicit that it does not protect users from bacteria, viruses, or disease organisms, and the seat still needs to be cleaned and washed thoroughly. Treat it as a material protection feature, not a hygiene claim you can put in front of an infection control committee.
6) Is this seat durable enough for a high-traffic public restroom?
It is built for that use. The seat is commercial-grade heavy-duty plastic with molded-in color, so scratches and wear do not show a different color underneath, and it resists chips and stains. Posts and pintles are 300-series stainless steel to resist corrosion in a wet restroom.
7) Are the hinges on this Bemis seat metal or plastic?
The hinge itself is plastic on the 2155SSCT. The hardware that takes the load and sits in the wet zone, the posts and pintles, is 300-series stainless steel. If your spec calls for an all-metal hinge, this model does not meet it.
8) What color and part number do I order for the Bemis 2155SSCT?
It is sold in white, ordered as MPN 2155SSCT 000. The 000 suffix is Bemis's white color code, so that is the number to put on a purchase order when you are standardizing seats across a facility.
9) Is the Bemis 2155SSCT made in the USA?
Country of origin is the US, and Bemis describes it as designed and assembled in the USA using eco-friendly materials and processes. That matters if you are buying under a domestic-preference procurement rule or a sustainability purchasing policy.
