Bemis CONCEALAR – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Bemis CONCEALAR hardware kit actually for?
CONCEALAR is a mounting hardware kit, not a toilet seat. It lets a Bemis seat with AR style adjustable hinges mount to a concealed trapway toilet, where the smooth skirted china doesn't give the standard hardware anything to grab. If you already have the seat and it won't sit right on a concealed trapway bowl, this is the part you're after. Buy the seat separately.
2) Will the CONCEALAR kit work with any toilet seat, or only Bemis AR hinges?
It's built for seats with AR style adjustable hinges. That's the hinge type the kit is matched to, so check the hinge on the seat you're mounting before ordering. A seat with a different hinge style is not what this kit was made for.
3) Do I need the CONCEALAR kit for a standard toilet, or only a concealed trapway one?
Only for a concealed trapway bowl. On a conventional exposed trapway toilet the seat's own hardware bolts straight through the china and no extra kit is needed. Concealed trapway (skirted) bowls are the case CONCEALAR exists to solve.
4) Does the CONCEALAR kit keep the seat from shifting side to side?
It includes the STA-TITE Seat Fastening System, which is the fastening method Bemis uses to hold the seat tight to the bowl. That's the loosening-seat complaint this kit is meant to head off on a concealed trapway installation, which matters if you're maintaining restrooms across a property rather than one bathroom at home.
