Bemis CONCEALEC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Bemis CONCEALEC kit actually for?
The CONCEALEC is a mounting hardware kit, not a seat. It lets a Bemis Easy Clean style hinge, adjustable or non-adjustable, mount onto a concealed trapway toilet bowl, where the smooth skirted china leaves no room for standard seat hardware. If your bowl has an exposed trapway, you do not need this kit; if the sides of the bowl are skirted smooth from rim to floor, you do.
2) Does the Bemis CONCEALEC come with a toilet seat, or do I order the seat separately?
Hardware only. The CONCEALEC supplies the fastening components for a concealed trapway bowl, and you pair it with a Bemis seat that uses the Easy Clean style hinge, in either the adjustable or the non-adjustable version. Order the seat on its own.
3) Will the CONCEALEC hardware work with any Bemis seat, or only certain hinges?
Only Easy Clean style hinges, and both flavors of it: non-adjustable and adjustable. A Bemis seat using a different hinge design is not covered by the kit, so check the hinge style on the seat before ordering the hardware to go with it.
4) Our maintenance crew keeps re-tightening loose toilet seats. Does the Bemis CONCEALEC fix that?
That is the point of it. The kit uses the STA-TITE Seat Fastening System, which Bemis states never loosens, so the seat stays clamped to the bowl instead of working free under traffic. For a property manager or MRO buyer replacing hardware across a lot of restrooms, it is a hardware-level fix rather than another round of tightening.
5) Can housekeeping take the seat off for cleaning with this Bemis hardware installed?
Yes. The Easy Clean and Change feature lets the seat lift off the bowl quickly for cleaning around the hinge posts and for swapping a damaged seat, then reseat it. In a hotel, school, or healthcare washroom that is the difference between cleaning around the hardware and cleaning under it.
6) Can I upgrade the hardware on an existing concealed trapway toilet without replacing the bowl?
Yes, that is the intended use: upgrading the seat hardware on concealed trapway toilet bowls already in place. The bowl stays, the old seat hardware comes off, and the CONCEALEC components go on in its place with an Easy Clean hinge seat.
7) What material is the Bemis CONCEALEC hardware, and where is it made?
Plastic hardware, made in the US. Plastic matters more than it sounds on toilet seat mounting hardware, since it will not corrode or seize in the way metal fasteners can in a wet washroom, which keeps the seat removable years after it was installed.
8) How do I order the Bemis concealed trapway seat hardware, and is there more than one version?
One part, one configuration: Bemis CONCEALEC, plastic. There are no size, finish, or hinge-style choices to specify on the kit itself, so the only decision left is which Easy Clean hinge seat you mount with it.
9) Is there anything green about the Bemis CONCEALEC kit for a sustainable spec?
Bemis states the kit is made with eco-friendly materials and processes. For a distributor or specifier working a sustainability requirement, that is the claim on record for the CONCEALEC hardware.
