No. The 45HCA is a lock body only, prepped for a small format interchangeable core and shipped less core. You supply the SFIC core separately, and it is a single cylinder keyed function, so one core serves the opening from the outside. Trim (lever or knob, escutcheon or sectional) is also a separate order.
2) Will the BEST 45HCA mortise lock fit a door thicker than 1-3/4 inches?
The standard 45HCA configuration is built for 1-3/4 inch doors. For anything thicker, BEST builds a thick-door configuration up to 5 inches, but the thickness has to be specified at the time of order since it changes the spindle and cylinder length. Backset is 2-3/4 inches either way.
3) Do I have to order the 45HCA handed, or can I change it on the job?
Handing is selected when you order (RH, LH, RHRB or LHRB), but the latch itself is reversible in the field. It rotates 180 degrees without opening the case, so if a door swing changes after delivery you are not stuck with the wrong part or holding four versions in the truck.
4) Will the 45HCA latch into the strikes already in my guest room frames?
The latchbolt throws 3/4 inch and the deadbolt throws 1 inch, which is standard mortise geometry, but the lip projection on the existing strike is what decides it. A 7/8 inch lip to center strike is available as an order option if your frame reveal needs the longer lip to guide the latch. The faceplate is 8 inches by 1-1/4 inches by 1/16 inch thick and self-adjusts to the door bevel during install.
