1) What label cartridges does the Brady BMP51 take?
The BMP51 runs Brady M Series cartridges (M-, MC-, MC1- prefixes), which come as a combined label-and-ribbon cartridge so there is no separate ribbon to load. Both continuous tapes and die-cut labels are supported. Tape width tops out at 1.5 in (38.1 mm), with liner widths from 0.813 in to 1.813 in.
2) Can I use the Brady BMP51 all day in a panel room without an outlet?
Yes. It ships with a 2200 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery and an AC adapter/charger, and it will also run on 8 AA cells (not included) if the pack dies mid-job. A flat pack takes about 3 hours to recharge. Auto shut-off defaults to 10 minutes and is user configurable, so you can stretch or shorten it depending on how you work.
3) Can the BMP51 be used standalone, or does it need a computer?
Both. The BMP51 works stand-alone with its full QWERTY keyboard and backlit LCD, or PC-connected. Connectivity covers USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi, and it works with Brady Workstation, CodeSoft and Labelmark software. For crews already running label files off a laptop or from cloud storage, that means the same printer serves both workflows.
4) What comes in the box with the Brady BMP51?

It does. Linear symbologies Code 39 and Code 128 are built in, with more available through Brady Workstation software, and 2D symbologies come through Brady Workstation as well. Print resolution is 300 dpi, which is what you want for scannable small-format codes.
6) How long a label can the Brady BMP51 print for wire wraps and panel legends?
Printed label length runs from 0.240 in up to 39 in (990 mm), with a maximum print width of 1.500 in (36.6 mm). That covers short wire markers and long multi-line panel schedules off the same cartridge. Print speed is 1 in/s.
7) Is the BMP51 the right printer for a high-volume label shop?
No. It's rated at 500 labels per day and prints at 1 in/s in a single color, so it suits a technician doing field identification, not a production run. Thermal transfer printing gives durable marks on wire, panels, circuit boards and lab items. If your volume runs past a few hundred labels a shift, look at a benchtop industrial printer instead.
8) How big and heavy is the BMP51, and will it work on our 240V site power?
