Bobrick 288-42 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What lock and key do I need for a Bobrick B-3588 toilet tissue dispenser?
The Bobrick 288-42 is the replacement lock and key for the B-3588 surface-mounted multi-roll toilet tissue dispenser. It also fits the B-35883 recessed multi-roll dispenser and the B-4288 surface-mounted multi-roll dispenser, so one part number covers all three across a building.
2) Will the Bobrick 288-42 lock fit a B-388 dispenser?
Yes. The 288-42 is listed as the replacement lock and key for the B-388, which Bobrick has discontinued. If you still have B-388 dispensers in service, this is the lock that keeps them going rather than replacing the whole unit.
3) Can I standardize one dispenser key across my restrooms with the Bobrick 288-42?
If your restrooms run Bobrick B-3588, B-35883, or B-4288 multi-roll tissue dispensers, the 288-42 is the common lock and key for all of them, plus the older B-388. Ordering the same part for every unit keeps one key working the whole facility instead of a ring per model.
4) Does the Bobrick 288-42 come with a key or is it lock only?
It ships as a lock and key set, so you get both the cylinder and the key to operate it. That matters for a property manager restocking a janitor's closet, you are not sourcing the key separately.
