Bobrick 167 2436 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the Bobrick B-167 backlit mirror be recessed into the wall, or is it surface mount only?
Both. The B-167 mirror has a backside aluminum frame with key lock holes and is built for wall mounted or recessed installation, so the same unit covers a surface application over a tiled wall or a recessed pocket in a chase wall.
2) Does the Bobrick B-167 LED mirror hardwire or plug in?
It can be plugged in, but the cord is not standard. The optional 30 inch cord with a three-prong plug is ordered separately as part 164-57, and the plug is a NEMA 5-15P, so it lands in a standard 15 amp 120V receptacle. If your electrician is feeding it from a junction box behind the mirror, you do not need the cord kit.
3) Is the B-167 mirror rated for a wet commercial restroom?
It is built for washroom duty. The mirror and mounting panel carry an IP44 rating, and the light engine is rated IP66. The silver backing is lead free and exceeds ISO 9227:201 at 120 hours of corrosion testing, which is the spec that matters where humidity and cleaning chemicals attack the back of a standard mirror.
4) How much light does the B-167 2436 put out, and what color temperature?
The 2436 draws 24 watts and delivers 2760 lumens at 3000 Kelvin, a warm white. Every size in the B-167 line is 3000K, so mixing sizes across a row of lavatories will not give you mismatched color. Output scales with size: 2650 lumens on the 2632 up to 4965 lumens on the 6642.
5) Can the Bobrick B-167 mirror be dimmed?
A dimming option is offered on the B-167. Specify it at order time, because it is an option on the light engine rather than something added in the field.
6) Is the glass on the Bobrick B-167 safety backed for a public restroom?
Yes, the glass is 6mm with a safety film backing, so if it is struck the fragments stay bonded to the film instead of dropping into the lavatory. That is the construction you want in a school, stadium or other high traffic public washroom.
7) How long do the LEDs in the B-167 last before the mirror has to be replaced?
The light engine is rated for an estimated 50,000 hours. On a restroom running roughly 12 hours a day that is over a decade of service, which is why the LEDs are integral rather than lamped, there is nothing to relamp.
