Bobrick 277 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the B-277 a recessed or surface mounted trash can?
It is surface mounted, so it hangs on the finished wall face with no wall cavity or rough-in required. That makes it the choice for block, tile, or existing walls where you cannot cut in a recessed receptacle.
2) What size trash liner does the Bobrick B-277 hold?
The receptacle body holds 12.75 gallons (48.3 L), so a standard 12 to 16 gallon liner is the right range for it. It ships with Bobrick's LinerMate trash liner holder, which grips the bag at the top edge so it does not slide down into the can when the container fills.
3) Is the B-277 open top, or does it have a lid?
Open top, with no cover or push flap. The top edges are hemmed so there is no raw sheet metal edge for hands or bag material to catch on. If you need a covered receptacle for odor control or a healthcare setting, an open-top unit is not the right pick.
4) Will a stainless waste receptacle hold up in a high-traffic public restroom?
The B-277 is satin-finish stainless steel throughout, which is what puts it in stadium, school, and airport washrooms rather than painted steel or plastic. Satin finish hides fingerprints and cleaning marks better than a mirror polish, and it can be wiped with standard washroom cleaners.
5) How does staff empty the B-277 without wrestling the whole unit off the wall?
The bottom of the receptacle has a recessed finger grip, so a housekeeper can get a hand under the unit and lift it off its mounting to swap the liner, then set it back. That detail matters when the same crew services dozens of restrooms a shift.
6) Does the Bobrick B-277 come in more than one finish?
One finish only: satin stainless. There is no bright polish, powder coat, or bronze option, so if you are standardizing washroom accessories across a building, expect the satin stainless look on every unit.
