Bobrick 35649 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the locks on this Bobrick waste receptacle match the keys we already use on our other Bobrick washroom accessories?
Yes. The B-35649 has two tumbler locks keyed like other Bobrick washroom accessories, so a facility already standardized on Bobrick paper towel dispensers and napkin units can service this one off the same key. Housekeeping carries one key for the floor instead of a ring per fixture.
2) How much does the B-35649 stick out into the restroom, and will it block the clear floor space?
Projection off the wall is 8-7/16 inches (215 mm) when surface mounted. The unit is listed as ADA compliant, but compliance on any given job still depends on where you set the mounting height and whether the projection falls in a circulation path. If you need the face flush with the wall, pull the skirt and recess it.
3) Is the 12 gallon liner bin removable, and will it leak into the cabinet?
The waste bin lifts out and is leak-proof, rated at 12 gallons (45.5 L). For a high-traffic public restroom that is a mid-size liner volume, so plan collection rounds accordingly. The door swings on a concealed full-length stainless steel piano hinge with a cable door-swing limiter, so it stops before it hits the wall or the adjacent fixture during emptying.
4) What finishes does the Bobrick B-35649 come in if we are matching a black hardware package?
Two finishes are offered: satin stainless steel and matte black. The satin stainless is the standard institutional look and matches most existing Bobrick washroom lines; matte black is the one to pick when the specification calls for a blackened hardware and fixture package across the restroom.
5) What wall height do I need to clear for the Bobrick B-35649?
The cabinet is 40-1/8 inches (1020 mm) tall and 17-3/8 inches (440 mm) wide. Add your mounting height off the finished floor to that 40-1/8 inches when checking clearance under mirrors, shelves, or a horizontal grab bar run, and confirm the 17-3/8 inch width fits the wall segment between the lavatory and the partition.
6) Is this receptacle durable enough for a high-traffic public or institutional restroom?
Construction is stainless steel with all-welded seams, not fasteners or spot-welded tabs, and the door rides on a concealed full-length piano hinge rather than short butt hinges. Flush locks and a concealed hinge remove the easy grab points that get abused in public washrooms. That combination is aimed at airports, schools, stadiums and similar traffic rather than light commercial.
7) Does the B-35649 have a separate disposal door, or do you open the whole cabinet to throw something away?
It is configured with a disposal door, so users deposit waste through the door opening while the locked cabinet stays closed. Only staff with the tumbler-lock key open the cabinet to swap the bin. That is the arrangement most facilities want in unattended public restrooms.
