Bobrick 4112 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Bobrick B-4112 surface mounted or does it need a recessed opening in the wall?
It is a surface mount unit with concealed wall fastening, so no wall cutout or rough-in opening is needed. The fastener holes are hidden once the unit is assembled, which is what keeps it vandal resistant on a public restroom wall.
2) Does the B-4112 use cartridges or can we fill it with bulk soap?
It is a bulk-fill dispenser. The hinged filler top swings open for top filling, and the corrosion-resistant valve is made for commercially marketed all-purpose hand soaps. No proprietary cartridge or bag to buy, so a facility can keep buying soap by the gallon.
3) Can the public open the B-4112 and dump the soap out?
No. The hinged filler top requires a special key to open and the unit is built as vandal resistant, with the wall fasteners concealed. That is why it turns up in schools, transit facilities and other high-traffic public washrooms rather than an unlocked push-top unit.
4) How much soap does the Bobrick B-4112 hold, and how often will housekeeping need to refill it?
Capacity is 40 fluid ounces (1.2 L). There is a soap refill window on the container so staff can see the level without opening the unit, which lets a cleaner walk a floor and only open the dispensers that actually need topping up.
5) Will the Bobrick B-4112 match the other stainless washroom accessories in our restrooms?
The container is stainless steel in a satin finish, which is the standard commercial washroom finish and reads the same as satin stainless grab bars, paper towel cabinets and mirrors. Satin is the only finish the B-4112 comes in.
6) Is the B-4112 a push-button dispenser or touch-free?
It is manual. Soap is dispensed by a push button on the front face, measured at 3-5/16 inches from the wall. If the project spec calls for hands-free operation, this is not the unit for it; you need a battery or hardwired automatic dispenser instead.
7) Will a stainless soap dispenser hold up to harsh hand soaps without corroding?
The valve is corrosion resistant and the body is stainless steel, so it is built for continuous contact with commercially marketed all-purpose hand soaps. Stick to general-purpose liquid hand soap; the valve is specified for that, not for abrasive hand cleaners or lotions outside that description.
