Bobrick 4353 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Bobrick B-4353 be surface mounted on a block or tile wall?
No. The B-4353 is a recessed-only unit and needs a wall cavity at least 4 inches deep behind the opening. On solid block, poured concrete or a shallow partition where you cannot cut that pocket, you need a surface-mounted napkin disposal instead.
2) Is the Bobrick B-4353 sanitary napkin disposal ADA compliant?
Yes, the B-4353 is listed as ADA compliant. The self-closing door pulls down for access, so it opens with a single downward motion rather than a grip-and-twist. Mounting height still has to be set on site to meet reach-range requirements for the fixture group it serves.
3) How much waste does the B-4353 hold before housekeeping has to empty it?
It takes a removable 1.2-gallon (4.6-liter) plastic liner receptacle. That is a small-capacity unit, suited to single-occupancy or low-traffic restrooms; for a multi-stall women's room in a school, stadium or airport, plan on a larger-capacity disposal or more frequent service rounds. The inner receptacle lifts out so the whole liner can be swapped rather than reached into.
4) What finish is the Bobrick B-4353 and will it match other washroom accessories in the room?
The exposed cabinet and door are satin-finish stainless steel, which is the standard commercial washroom finish and matches satin stainless grab bars, paper dispensers and mirror frames on the same wall. Satin is the only finish offered on this model, so there is no polished or painted version to specify.
5) Is the interior of the B-4353 leak-proof, or do I need to line it?
The furnished plastic inner receptacle is leak-proof, so fluid stays in the liner rather than running into the wall cavity or down the finished face. Facilities typically still drop a disposable bag in it for faster service turns, but the receptacle itself is sealed and removable for washing.
6) Does the B-4353 door stay open or close on its own after use?
The door is self-closing. It pulls down for access and returns shut on release, which keeps contents out of sight and helps control odor in the stall. That also means nothing has to be latched or reset by housekeeping after servicing.
