Bobrick 700-121 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Bobrick B-700-121 motor brush kit used for?
It is a replacement motor brush kit for the blower motor in a Bobrick ventilation fan application, such as a washroom hand dryer or air-moving unit. Motor brushes are the wear item in a brushed blower motor, so this is the part you order when the motor runs weak, sparks, or stops turning but the unit still has power.
2) Can I return the Bobrick B-700-121 brush kit if I order the wrong part?
No. Bobrick has a no-return policy on parts, so the B-700-121 brush kit cannot be sent back once ordered. Pull the model and serial tag off the dryer or fan unit and confirm the brush kit called out for that motor before you place the order.
3) Is B-700-121 the part number I order, or is there more than one option to pick?
There is a single configuration. Order it as Bobrick B-700-121, model 700-121, with no finish, size, or voltage choice to specify.
4) Should I replace just the motor brushes or the whole blower motor?
Brushes wear down long before the motor itself does, so if the armature and bearings are sound and the unit is only losing power or arcing, the B-700-121 brush kit is the repair. If the motor is seized, the bearings are noisy, or the commutator is scored, brushes alone won't fix it and you need the blower motor assembly instead.
5) Will a generic motor brush work in place of the Bobrick B-700-121 kit?
Brushes are sized to the specific motor's holder and commutator, so substituting an off-size brush usually means poor seating, arcing, and a short life. The B-700-121 is the kit Bobrick specifies for this ventilation fan blower motor, and with parts being non-returnable it is the one to order rather than trying to match a generic.
