1) Why use a silicon bronze bolt instead of a galvanized or stainless hex bolt?
Silicon bronze is the choice where corrosion and dissimilar-metal contact are the problem: marine and wet environments, grounding and bonding work, and fastening to bronze or copper components where a galvanized bolt would set up galvanic corrosion. The JBBH36 is solid silicon bronze with a bronze finish, made to ASTM F468 (the material spec for nonferrous bolts), and Metallics lists it for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work. If you're bolting plain steel to steel indoors, a cheaper zinc-plated bolt does the same mechanical job.
2) Can I use Metallics silicon bronze bolts on a federally funded Buy American job?
