That is the job this one is built for. Grade 5 medium carbon steel, heat treated to Rockwell C25-34, with 120,000 psi minimum tensile and 92,000 psi minimum yield. Metallics lists motor mounting to machinery as the primary application, along with automotive and truck repair. If your drawing calls for Grade 8, this is not a substitute.
2) What thread does the JG5HC43 use, and will standard 5/16 nuts thread onto it?
It is 5/16-18, meaning 18 threads per inch, which is standard UNC coarse thread for 5/16 diameter. Any 5/16-18 coarse nut or tapped hole takes it. Shank diameter runs 0.3065 to 0.3125 inch and the thread conforms to ASME B18.2.1-2012.
3) Does this Metallics bolt meet Buy American or ARRA requirements on a public project?
