1) What size and thread is the Metallics JMHTB635 hex tap bolt?
It's an M6 x 35mm hex tap bolt with a 1.0mm thread pitch, right-hand thread. The 35mm figure is the length under the head, and because it's a tap bolt the thread runs the full length of the shank right up to the head, so there's no unthreaded grip section to work around in a shallow tapped hole.
2) Is a Class 8.8 bolt strong enough to mount a motor to a frame?
Class 8.8 is a medium carbon steel, heat treated grade with 120,350 psi minimum tensile and 95,700 psi minimum yield, hardness Rockwell C23-34. Metallics calls this one out specifically for mounting motors to machinery, and it also sees a lot of use in automotive and truck repair. For general electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning work it's the usual structural-duty metric grade.
3) Are Metallics JMHTB635 bolts Buy American or ARRA compliant for a government job?
No. The JMHTB635 is not Buy American compliant and is not ARRA compliant, with multiple countries of origin. If your federal, state or institutional contract carries domestic-sourcing language, this bolt won't satisfy it and you'll need a domestically produced fastener.
4) Will a zinc plated steel bolt hold up outdoors or in a damp mechanical room?
The JMHTB635 is medium carbon steel with a zinc finish. Zinc plating is a general-purpose indoor and sheltered-use coating, fine for mechanical rooms, equipment skids and panel work. For sustained wet exposure, washdown or coastal air, specify stainless or hot dip galvanized instead.

6) Does this hex bolt have a washer face under the head, or do I need to add flat washers?
There's a washer face formed beneath the hex head, which gives a clean bearing surface against the part. That isn't a substitute for a flat washer on soft material, slotted holes or oversized clearance holes, where you still want a washer to spread the load. Nuts and washers aren't part of the jar, so order those separately.
7) Do M6 x 1.0 tap bolts work in an existing tapped hole or do I need to drill and tap?
These thread into an existing M6 x 1.0 tapped hole, which is the standard coarse pitch for M6, so they drop into most factory motor feet, enclosure bosses and equipment frames. If you're tapping fresh, M6 x 1.0 is cut with a 5mm drill. Right-hand thread only.
