1) Which Briscon SC strap size do I need for 2/0 SE cable?
Use the SC-35-50 for 2/0 service entrance cable. It comes 50 straps per box. If you're running 4/0 instead, that's the SC-40-50 (also 50 per box), and for 2/3 cable it's the SC25-100, packed 100 per box. The sizes aren't interchangeable, each one is matched to a specific SE cable size, so pick by the cable you're strapping.
2) Can I use aluminum straps on aluminum SE cable without a corrosion problem?
That's exactly what the SC Series is meant for. The strap is aluminum with a silver finish, which pairs with aluminum SE cable rather than putting dissimilar metal against the jacket, and it holds up on exterior service runs. If your job spec calls for galvanized steel or stainless instead, Briscon builds one and two hole straps in those materials too.
3) What is a fold-over cable strap and how does it differ from a two-hole strap?
A fold-over strap wraps over the top of the cable and fastens through a single mounting hole on one side, so you drive one fastener per strap instead of two. That's faster on a long service run up siding and it keeps a low profile against the wall. A two hole strap pins the cable on both sides and is the choice when you want the run held rigid or the spec calls for it. The SC Series is the one hole fold-over type.
4) Are these straps suitable for SER cable and meter base feeds on a service upgrade?
Yes. The SC Series is used for securing SE and SER service entrance cable, service upgrades and meter base feeds, exterior runs on siding and framing, and feeder cable to subpanels. Residential and light commercial service work is the normal application.
5) Do Briscon SC straps come with screws or nails?
No fasteners are included. Each strap has one mounting hole and you supply the screw or nail to suit the substrate, siding, sheathing or framing. Order fasteners separately along with the box of straps.
6) I stock Gardner Bender parts, is Briscon the same line now?
