1) Can I use a Bussmann LPN-RK fuse on a 480V system?
No. The LPN-RK is a 250 Vac / 250 Vdc fuse and must not be applied above that. For 480V or 600V circuits you need the 600V version of the Low-Peak RK1 line, the LPS-RK, not the LPN-RK. The N in LPN-RK denotes the 250V rating.
2) Will an LPN-RK fuse fit my existing Class R fuse block or disconnect?
It fits Class R rejection holders and switches sized for the same amp range. The LPN-RK is a Class RK1 fuse with blade end x blade end connections, so it drops into standard Class R fuseblocks and fusible disconnects. Class R rejection hardware accepts Class RK1 and RK5 fuses but blocks non-rejection Class H/K fuses, so an LPN-RK can replace a Class H fuse in a rejection clip, but a Class H fuse cannot go back into it.
3) Do I need a time-delay fuse for a motor circuit, or will a fast-acting one work?
For motors and transformers you want the time delay. The LPN-RK uses a dual-element design that rides through starting inrush and temporary overloads without opening, then clears fast on a genuine short circuit. A fast-acting (non-time-delay) RK1 fuse on a motor branch will nuisance-open on every start unless you grossly oversize it, which then gives up overload protection.
4) What is the difference between LPN-RK and a Class RK5 fuse like FRN-R?
Both are 250V dual-element time-delay Class R fuses and both fit Class R rejection clips, but the current-limiting performance differs.
